五一、己功不念 人恩不忘

51. Bear not in mind the favors we have done to others but the bounties others might have bestowed on us.

我有功於人不可念，而過則不可不念；人有恩於我不可忘，而怨則不可不忘。

【今文解譯】

自己對別人有恩，不可念念不忘；自己做事對不起別人，就應當反躬自省。

別人對自己有恩，不可不記在心；別人有事冒犯了自己，就不可耿耿於懷。

【English Translation】

We should not bear in mind the good turns we have done for others, but should reflect on the offences we might have given to them. Contrarily, we should bear in mind the bounties others have bestowed on us, but should forget the displeasures they might have caused to us.
