三六、不惡小人 有禮君子

36. Treat a base man with no hatred and a worthy man with etiquette.

待小人不難於嚴，而難於不惡；待君子不難於恭，而難於有禮。

【今文解譯】

以嚴厲的態度對待劣跡斑斑的小人，這不難，難的是去除內心對他們的鄙夷。

以恭敬之心對待謙謙君子，這不難，難的是對待他們要禮數周全，不失體統。

【English Translation】

It is easy to be severe with a base man, but difficult to treat him without disgust.

It is easy to be respectful to a worthy man, but difficult to treat him with proper etiquette.
