三五、知退一步 加讓三分

35. Step backward for others when on a narrow path and give way for them even if on an open road.

人情反覆，世路崎嶇。行不去處，須知退一步之法；行得去處，務加讓三分之功。

世間人情反複無常，世間道路崎嶇不平。路窄過不去時，要知道還有退一步這種走法；即使路寬好走，也一定要有讓出三分便利給人的胸襟和公德。

【English Translation】

Human relationships are inconstant. The road of life is rugged and rough. When there is no enough room ahead on a path, you should have the sense to take a step back for others. Furthermore, even when you come to an open road, you should also take it as your merit to make way for them.
