三七、正氣清名 留於乾坤

37. It is better to leave both righteousness and untainted name to the world.

寧守渾噩①而黜②聰明，留些正氣還天地；寧謝紛華而甘澹泊，遺個清名在乾坤。

【注 釋】

① 渾噩：混沌無知的樣子。此處指樸實無邪。

② 黜：去除，摒棄。

【今文解譯】

寧可樸實愚魯也不要玩弄小聰明，這樣至少還可以給這個世界留下點正氣。

寧可選擇清貧也不要涉足名利場，這樣至少還可以留個清廉的名聲在人間。

【English Translation】

It is better to preserve natural instincts and forsake astuteness, so as to save some righteousness for the world. Likewise, it is better to decline extravagance and be content with a simple life, so as to leave behind an untainted name in history.
