三三、放得功名 即可脫俗

33. One who can sever himself from fame and wealth will overcome worldly thoughts.

放得功名富貴之心下，便可脫凡；放得道德仁義之心下，才可入聖①。

【注 釋】

① 才可入聖：在中國古代，能按仁義道德要求去處世為人的是君子，而思想行為不受其束縛卻又能時時處處為人師表的則是至人或聖人。

【今文解譯】

能放下功名富貴之心的，便可以擺脫凡俗的束縛。

能擺脫仁義道德桎梏的，便可以達到聖賢的境界。

【English Translation】

It is only by discarding the desire to seek riches and honor that one will be able to transcend the mundane world.

It is only by finding freedom from the sermon of justice and virtue that one will be able to enter sainthood.
