To make sure if a man is reliable or not is to observe what he does when confronted with important and/or difficult things.

To make sure if a man is large-minded or not is to observe how he behaves in advantage as well as in disadvantage.

To make sure if a man is well cultured or not is to observe what he acts in the face of occurrences, pleasing or annoying.

To make sure if a man is wide in experience or not is to observe how he has a go in getting along with the multitude.

以我攻人 不如使人自露
