7. Let beauty and ugliness get along with one another and the wise and the stupid be favored with no discrimination.

好醜心太明，則物不契①；賢愚心太明，則人不親②。須是內精明而外渾厚，使好醜兩得其平，賢愚共受其益，才是生成的德量。

【今文解譯】

美和醜分得太清楚，事物與事物就難以相互融合；聰明和愚笨分得太清楚，人與人之間就無法和睦相處。最好能做到內裏精明、外表敦厚，使美的和醜的都能和平相處，聰明的和愚笨的都能從中受益，這才是包容兼蓄的道德涵養和氣度。

【English Translation】

The harmony of things cannot be reached if we unduly distinguish them with beauty and ugliness. The intimacy of interpersonal relationship cannot be brought about if we overly discriminate between the wise and the stupid. In order to make the beauty and ugliness get along peacefully with one another and favor both of the wise and the stupid with no discrimination, we must keep inwardly an astute mind and outwardly an honest appearance, and thus bring the great merit of generosity to fruition.
