14. A talented man should be like unrefined gold and uncut jade and like flowing water and floating cloud, the man of learning.

有才必韜藏，如渾金璞玉，暗然而日章也。為學無間斷，如流水行雲，日進而不已也。

一個人的才能應該隱藏起來，要像未加冶煉的金子和未經琢磨的玉石，漸漸彰顯自己的光芒。

一個人做學問切不可時斷時續，而應像奔騰的流水和飄浮的行雲，每天都要有所收獲和進步。

【English Translation】

A talented man should hide his talents by keeping it as unrefined gold and uncut jade, and only in this way can his talents be increasing from time to time without being noticed.

The man of learning must ceaselessly persist in his own endeavor by doing it like flowing water and floating cloud, and only in this way can progress be made each day.
